Can you believe 2017 is already at an end? 2017 has been quite the year for us at meQasa.com. We’ve made some incredible progress this year and can’t wait to make even more in the coming years. This year has perhaps been our biggest so far, from our first housing fair to our recent acquisition of Jumia House Ghana. Most importantly, however, we couldn’t have made any of this progress without you. Thanks for sticking with us.
Here’s a recap of what happened in 2017.
Jumia House Acquisition
Our biggest move this year was acquiring Jumia House Ghana, our biggest competitor. As one unit, we’re in better shape to offer property seekers, developers and all stakeholders in the real estate industry the best online property service. We now have the scale and resources to transform the way Ghanaians buy and sell real estate for the better. Speaking on the acquisition, our CEO says,
The acquisition of Jumia House Ghana has placed meQasa.com in a prime position to better serve Ghana’s growing real estate market. Our combined businesses will have the scale and resources to transform the way Ghanaians buy and sell property. With the acquisition, we will be the go-to destination for property buyers, renters, for real estate agents, and alike.
We Rolled Out A Subscription Model
In 2017, we officially rolled out a subscription model to our cherished agents and developers. The goal is to make our listing platform more competitive for everyone who lists on it. This will ensure that property seekers are presented with only the best property options when property hunting on meQasa.com. The patronage of this model by both property providers and seekers has been phenomenal. Now, seekers can find better targeted and relevant properties matching their criteria. A happier seeker means more value for our agents, developers and homeowners and a knowing appreciation of our services.
The Dream Homes Expo
The most exciting highlight of 2017 for us was our maiden housing fair, the Dream Homes Expo. We successfully pulled Ghana’s top real estate developers, estate agencies and ancillary service providers together for two days at the Accra International Conference Centre. It was an opportunity for property seekers to speak face to face with real estate professionals to discover available housing options, mortgage facilities, home improvement among several other home options.
We also included seminars that touched on topics ranging from décor, property valuation, energy efficiency and property as an investment. We appreciate everyone that showed up for the expo as well as everyone who particpated. Special thanks to our partners, Ashfoam Ghana, GhanaWeb.com and Pulse Ghana. Below are some stills from the Dream Homes Expo. (Click here to subscribe to the weekly Dream Homes Newsletter to be notified of the next expo plus awesome property deals and more).
Kelvin Doe Visited meQasa.com
Sierra Leonean child prodigy, Kelvin Doe, graced our offices sometime in February 2017. We had a pleasant time listening to Kelvin (who bears the same first name as our CEO, Kelvin Nyame) share his story and patiently answer all the questions the meQasa.com team threw at him. It was a truly uplifting moment that taught us anything is possible. You need only believe.

In Helen Keller’s famous words, “alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”. We couldn’t agree more and have in fact, scaled up our strategic partnerships to deliver even more value to our clients; both seekers and housing providers. You might have stumbled upon several articles from Pulse Ghana about real estate in Ghana. These range from fancy, aspirational content like the most expensive homes in Accra to informative articles about new developments and average rent costs in some developments.
We’ve also begun new partnerships with myjoyonline.com, GhanaWeb.com and bolstered our existing partnership with AmeyawDebrah.com. How? We power the real estate sections on their websites. It’s our partnership with you however that matters the most to us and these partnerships are geared towards providing you housing options while on your favourtie news and gossip websites.
Most Disruptive Ghanaian Tech Company
Whoop whoop! Our CEO, Kelvin Nyame was named by Techpreneur Mag as one of the ten most disruptive people in the Ghanaian technology space in 2017. We weren’t just recognized, but we also made the cover of the magazine along with the likes of Ethel Coffie, Jesse Arhin Grant (OMG Digital) and Alloysius Attah (Farmerline). Kelvin has also been named as one of the Ghanaian tech personalities to look out for in 2018 by Tech Nova. This speaks volumes and we appreciate the recognition. This is truly an inspiration and we are amped to do more. Read it here.
Interview: Rise of Ghana Real Estate Website, meQasa.com
We had the pleasure of being interviewed by Aksoua Annobil in July 2017. Representing meQasa.com, CEO Kelvin Nyame shared the story of how meQasa.com came to be, our challenges, successes and our hopes for the future. A snippet from the interview we’d love you to keep in mind is in response to the question, in 2020 Africa will be..?
I would like to see more locals starting impactful businesses, solving real problems. There’s a growing trend of local investors getting engaged, more willing to commit financially, and foreign businesses expanding to this market because they want to grow. By 2020, it will be an even greater time to flourish as an entrepreneur in Africa.

Tech In Ghana Conference Accra
We are proud to have been part of the first Tech In Ghana Conference Accra held at the Accra Digital Centre from 22nd – 23rd November. The conference was a showcase of some of Ghana’s brightest and most innovative technology enterprises. We seized the opportunity to share what we do at meQasa.com to new audiences within and outside the techpreneurial space. Thank you Akosua Annobil, Africa Business 2020 and the Tech In Ghana Conference team for the opportunity. You can watch a video of our presentation at the conference by Prince Anim (Head of Marketing & PR) on the easiest way to rent, buy or sell property online.
As you can see, 2017 was such a wonderful year for us at meQasa.com. We’re stoked for our successes and are more than eager to learn from our failures moving into 2018. We can’t wait to deliver on our promise of making real estate more accessible to next year and beyond. More importantly, we’re more than excited to enter the new year with you, the people who make what we do worthwhile. We want you to join us uphold our values of respect, commitment and always daring to be different.
